On display at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. “Bockscar” was a Silverplate conversion, assigned to 393rd BS, 509th Composite Group. It dropped the “Fat Man” Plutonium atomic bomb on Nagasaki on Aug. 9, 1945 after finding Kokura, its primary target obscured in smoke. Short of fuel on the return leg, it made an emergency landing at Yontan airfield, Okinawa.
